Word Web Vocabulary is designed to be the integrating element in a language arts curriculum, tying together spelling, grammar and usage.
Word Web is not a new subject to be added to an already filled curriculum but instead is the catalyst that will integrate and reinforce the contents of your language arts curriculum from the elements of style, mechanics, spelling, grammar, reading and writing, speaking and listening., figures of speech and research to the correlation of words and concepts to literature - regardless of the grade level(s) of your students.
Word Web Vocabulary:
- Contains multidimensional lesson plans with teaching tips for you, along with extra information about the students' contents and more material for advanced students
- Requires weekly sentence writing that utilizes the week's vocabulary words and coaxes reluctant writers to become more confident and productive
- Assures YOU of minimal planning time AND only 15 minutes of daily instruction - but you're likely to want much more!
- Utilizes the principles of relevancy and continuity to assure students' retention
- Encourages Students to Take an Active Role in the learning process
- Meets the needs of all your students with its 6 Learning Levels
Each Word Web lesson offers several learning levels so that students of varying abilities in a classroom can use it at the same time. Learning differences are also accounted for by "Think Links," "Bonus Blasts," "Literary Links" and suggestions to students to "Delve Deeper."
Word Web is built on the principles of relevancy, continuity and continuous review; therefore, students retain what they learn. This knowledge helps students increase their verbal test scores.
Teachers need minimal planning time; only 15 minutes of daily instruction needed - but you're going to want much more. Word Web contains multidimensional lesson plans and teaching tips for you, along with extra clarification of the students' material.
Word Web Vocabulary encourages students to take an active - not passive - role in the learning process. It enables students to utilize words with imagination, purpose and creativity.
Six lessons comprise a chapter, the first five of which introduce new words, while the sixth is a review. Each lesson lasts one week. Therefore, the six chapters in each volume cover thirty-six weeks, the length of most school years. Because Word Web presents words at several levels of difficulty - each coded - it meets the needs of students of varying capabilities. The range of material enables teachers to select and shape it to their students' needs and abilities.
Through an approach that is challenging and fun for both students and teachers, Word Web Vocabulary broadens and enriches students' perspective of contemporary and classical language. Each lesson is rich with model sentences, graphic images and literary references. Word Web's format is simple yet sophisticated, stimulating but serious and is lightened by its Wicked Word of the Week, Bonus Blasts, Awesome Associations, and other proprietary elements.
You'll observe students actively and meaningfully involved in real learning, especially as they make the connections from the classroom to their own world.
Word Web Vocabulary will soon become the heart of the language arts curriculum, providing the lifeblood that sustains reading and writing. It also nourishes student progress in history / social studies, science and the arts.
"The fresher the stimulus, the more impact it has on you, and the more likely you are to remember it." Arnold Scheibel.
